Notebook Art Makes Waves

Last Saturday, my mother was messaging me at seven in the morning telling me to go online. She was so excited that she wanted me to go on skype right away.

The reason behind it was because I was featured in the Philippine Daily Inquirer. =)

I really wish I could have been there to see, not just my moleskine, but the others too.

April Updates

Posted on: 16th of April 2008 | Under: Artsy Pantsy

  1. I received my 5 free moleskines from Italy (thanks to Marsida Shyti) yesterday. :) I have yet to get photos of the actual exhibit.
  2. I got my Vivitar PN2011 from Mikko early in the month! :) A few bloggers / photography enthusiasts met at Abea, Serendra for dinner. It was nice finally meeting old online friends, and meeting new ones as well. I went shutter happy and used up 2 films in 3 days!
  3. It’s been a great month at work. My best month, in terms of performance, so far. And it’s only the middle of the month! :)
  4. I fly off to Singapore on Thursday. Lots of activities with JR! I am so excited! :)

Moleskine Project

Posted on: 18th of March 2008 | Under: Artsy Pantsy

Exactly two weeks ago, I received an email from Marsida Shyti from moleskine.com, inviting me to participate in the Moleskine Exhibit for the London Book Fair in April. She chanced upon my moleskine art through my flickr, and chose me, together with several other moleskine users/artists to participate.

Here’s an excerpt from her email:

Like every year Moleskine will attend this important fair. We focused our attention upon the value of the trade show through the original and artistic use of Moleskine notebooks, so we decided to choose and expose a small quantity of the most stylish Moleskine notebooks.

Your work is perfect for this purpose! It represents the ideal feeling we would communicate about Moleskine and, in our opinion, could also be a good opportunity for you in terms of visibility.

Do you agree to send us one of your Moleskine notebook? Otherwise, if you prefer, we can send you a new notebook to personalise. For your co-operation and your kind help we will send you five new Moleskine notebooks, the layout you prefer.

And because an opportunity like this doesn’t really come everyday, I agreed to participate. I guess it’s also the perfect excuse for me to start drawing/painting again. I actually haven’t touched my moleskine sketch in almost a year!

I got into the groove right away, and have been enjoying my free time filling up my moleskine every day. Here are a few of the things I’ve done so far:

I have about twenty more pages to do before I send the book to Marsida Shyti in Italy. And I only have until the end of the month for that, so wish me luck! =)

Dance Like No One’s Watching

Posted on: 3rd of March 2007 | Under: Artsy Pantsy

After several gruelling hours of my eyes and fingers being glued to my MacBook, I’m so happy to say that this layout’s finally done. I’m all drained and poofed out!

The production stage took a little longer than I had planned. My vectoring and photoshop skills are a little rusty from months of not practicing. On top of that, I seemed to have lost the ability to write (and even remember!) codes as fast as I used to. I had to resort to numerous trial-and-errors in order to get everything fixed. Everything seems to be looking fine now, but I shall double check again tomorrow if there are anymore bugs.

Anyway, I obviously went crazy over the colors. I don’t even remember having any of my past layouts being this colorful before. Frankly speaking, it’s quite a bold change from my usual “safe” colors. But change is good. I like this change. I’m also hoping that the bright colors will motivate me to blog more frequently now. Hahaha!

It’s already 3am, so I’ll just end this post with the quote that inspired this layout:

Dance like no one’s watching.
Sing like no one’s listening.
Love like you’ve never been hurt,
and live like it’s heaven on earth.

I missed making perspectives and rendered drawings, so yesterday, I sat myself down and worked in my moleskine sketch.
