Flying on a Budget

Posted on: 9th of September 2008 | Under: Travel Junkie

JR and I are back in Manila for a couple of days; a sudden decision to go home after hearing about his father’s health condition.

Since it was an unplanned trip, we opted for the most affordable flight: round trip on Cebu Pacific. It was actually my first time to fly with the said airlines, but I have been to the Singapore Budget Terminal (where it operates) before. The terminal is not at all that fancy, especially if you compare it to Changi Airport, but their service is quite fast. There were no long lines, and our bag (yes, we shared one luggage) was checked in less than five minutes after we arrived. Maybe it was because our flight was at midnight, but still, everything and everyone worked fast.

The only down side of the airport setup is how the actual boarding gate is separate from the waiting area. During boarding, we had to wait in a super long line for several minutes before the gates were actually opened. It would have been a real headache were it not for the officials who directed the passengers towards the plane smoothly.

The flight itself was not too pleasant. There wasn’t enough leg room and the seats were a little too hard. On the other hand, the flight attendants, wearing several promotional products from Bench (shirts, etc. - they must be sponsors), were quite friendly despite having to serve us so early in the morning. Either way, the flight was nevertheless uncomfortable. But I guess that’s because I’m so used to flying PAL.

So, I guess there are both perks and drawbacks for choosing budget flights. But all that really matters is that JR and I are home. <3

Quarter-Life Celebration

I spent my birthday rather different this year. My family and I flew off to Hong Kong for three days. Three days of not doing any touring, but three days of shopping. Yes, all our time was spent walking around the city going through the different shopping centers.

By the end of our third day, I was already complaining of leg and muscle pains. The flight back home was the most uncomfortable ride ever, as I was already sick and had the chills.

The whole trip was nevertheless fun. It had been a long time since we last went on a family trip, and our Hong Kong vacation was definitely worth it. The best 25th Birthday present. =)

I’m definitely going to miss my family when I move to Singapore next week.

An Attempt to Narrate our Singapore Escapade

Posted on: 19th of July 2006 | Under: Travel Junkie

The lack of detailed updates in here was due to the vacation JR and I had in Singapore. We were too busy having fun that it was just right to get away from our online lives for a while. =P But I did miss this, so let me try to let you all in on the wonderful time we had. ^_^

It was a 10-day escapade full of shopping, sight seeing, eating, taking pictures and meeting up with people. The main reason why we planned the trip was to be present at Cecilia (my ever dearest friend/sister whom I haven’t seen for 7 years!) and Dinesh’s Registration of Marriage.

We met up with the couple the 2nd night we were there and had the best time talking, dancing and getting drunk (ok, I got drunk) on Vodka. =P Imissed my sis so much and seeing her again was just overwhelming! :)

A picture of the four of us looking too happy… =P

The whole place was definitely for people like me who gets thrilled at the sight of towels, lamps, furniture, or anything for the home. I just wish everything I saw could fit into my luggage! =P

I don’t want to leave Singapore yet, but we fly back to Manila tomorrow (I mean later). :(

Singapore, at last! =)

A Need to Get Away

Posted on: 17th of April 2006 | Under: Travel Junkie

I’ve had to deal with so much stress lately: the last few days of school and family dealings too. All I need right now is to get away Away from everything. Away from everyone.

A trip to a secluded beach would do. Maybe even a couple of days somewhere I’ve never been to. I’m not going to worry about finding a job yet. I know I’m not being pressured by anyone anyway. I will just take my sweet time to get some rest and to have fun.

Road trip, anyone?

Batch Outing

Out of town trips are something that I enjoy quite a lot. Being able to get away from, not just the school work, but also from the hustle and bustle of city life, is such a treat. Emptying your mind from all the worries and just having fun is something everyone must do once and a while.

Heading off to a beach in Zambales with my batch was great last Saturday. The beach itself wasn’t exactly like that of Boracay’s, but being in the company of some wonderful people made everything fun. Talking, laughing and getting to know our batchmates a little bit more was perfect. Somehow, the whole trip bonded the batch a little tighter.

What better way to describe the entire trip, than through pictures, right? So, here you go…

Oh, and inlight to the recent exhibit, which some of my batchmates and I had in Glorietta, we were featured in several local newspapers. It’s just funny seeing your name and face plastered on the paper! haha! XP

Here are 2 shots of those…
