Celebrating Six Years Together
Posted on: 19th of October 2009 | Under: Life & Love, Palate Pleaser

It is of no question that JR and I both love food. We enjoy treating ourselves to scrumptious meals together, whether it be home cooked, fast food or fancy dining. Even in the early stages of our relationship, we were always happy eating together. That’s why, to celebrate our sixth year together last Friday, food was of course a big highlight of our day. :)

I started the day early by getting up while JR was still snoring away in dreamland. I whipped up a meal for both of us, and surprised him with breakfast in bed:

Breakfast in bed!

Our favorite breakfast treat: bacon and pancakes!

The smell of the food wafting from the kitchen had  already jostled him from his sleep before I even brought him the tray of goodies, but he stayed in bed and let me surprise him anyway. :)

For dinner, we wanted something a little more fancy, so we reserved a table at Novus.

Novus Resto

We hadn’t really heard of the restaurant until only a few days before. Nestled inside the Singapore National Museum, we quickly agreed that it was just the perfect place to celebrate our relationship.

What a wise choice it was, because we were definitely not left disappointed.

The food was delectable! We chose our meals a-la-carte, and started off by sharing our starter:

Angus Beef and Buffalo Mozzarella Carpaccio garnished with Parmesan Flakes and Celeriac Julienne with Hazelnut Dressing.

This was simply divine! The mozzarella cheese snuggled at the center of the thinly-sliced beef was a surprising treat that got us emptying our plates in no time!

2,193 days together! ♥

We turn 2,193 days old today. I still wake up in the morning feeling like that very first day. <3

Happy 6 years to us, my love! :)

Celebrating Five Years Over Dinner
Posted on: 19th of October 2008 | Under: Life & Love, Palate Pleaser

We love food, and as a couple we enjoy trying out new places to dine. Every year, on the day of our anniversary (except for our first year, because we were technically not together for two days then — long story), we like to dress up and treat ourselves to a romantic dinner. On our second anniversary, we had a two-day celebration where we had dinner at MyLK, Greenbelt 2, followed by lunch at Conti’s the following day. On our third year, we had dinner at Vivere Skyline in Alabang, which I blogged about here. And on our fourth anniversary last year, we had a scrumptious meal at Le Souffle, at the Fort.

For the past years, we celebrated in different restaurants in Manila, but this year however is the first time we spent it in Singapore, our new home (well technically it’s only new to me, because JR has been here for over a year).

We chose to have our dinner at the Equinox Restaurant, and boy, did we make the right choice! Situated on the 70th floor of Swissôtel The Stamford, the restaurant with its three-storey high windows gave us a spectacular view of the city. When JR reserved our table a couple of days before, we were disappointed when told that all window seating were already full for the night. But when we arrived that evening, we were lucky enough to be able to grab one of the tables for an extra charge of SGD20. Not bad, because it was wonderful being able to sit next to this view:

Five Years
Posted on: 17th of October 2008 | Under: Life & Love

We turned five years yesterday. Five Years! Sometimes I feel like we’ve been together forever, but most of the time I feel like we’re still just a fresh couple. After five years, the flattery, the giddiness and the butterflies in the stomach are still there. There’s still a whole lot of pampering and mushiness. My heart is still tickled by his words and simple gestures.

I received not just one, but two bouquet of roses. He surprised me the other night when he brought home the first bouquet of red roses. Which is why I was even more surprised when a second bouquet was delivered to our flat yesterday. Surprises truly make any girl’s heart skip a beat! XD

We celebrated our Anniversary over a lovely dinner and dessert on the 70th floor of a fancy hotel, but I will blog about that in my next post. I’ll leave you with a few photos for now. =D

The first set of flowers! <3

The second bouquet, which was delivered to our flat. <3

The card that came with the white roses. Mushy! Hehe! Oh, and “With Love and Prayers” is an inside joke. =P hehe!
