Turning Twenty SevenPosted on: 4th of June 2010

Life & Love
You know you’re getting old when you start saying that you’re a certain age, months before you even turn that age.
Yes, for some reason, I’ve been absentmindedly saying that I’m already twenty seven years old, even if I just turned that age last Tuesday. And no, I don’t think I’m in denial about being old. For some reason, age seem to have stopped being important after twenty five. =P
My Birthday celebration started a day early this year. The husband likes to spoil me rotten! :) Upon my request, we went out for a quick Japanese dinner, followed by a movie (SATC 2). I have been craving for sushi for weeks, so it was about time I finally satisfied both my tummy and palate.

At Nihon Mura, The Cathay, about to devour my sushi. I don’t remember how many plates I had, but it was certainly more than what I normally eat! =P

And of course, what’s a trip to a Japanese restaurant without having sashimi. I love my sashimi! <3
We had several plates of sushi, some yakitori, tokayaki balls and the salmon sashimi which we happily downed with hot green tea. And is if we weren’t full enough, we even munched on ice cream and chocolates during the movie too. =P
On the night of my Birthday, we headed to Clarke Quay and had Persian for dinner.

Shiraz, Clarke Quay.

We Did It!Posted on: 22nd of February 2010

Life & Love
After six years and four months, we finally got married last February 17, 2010! :)

Well, it’s not the church wedding yet (that’s scheduled for the first part of 2011), but our Registration of Marriage in Singapore. Similar to a Civil Wedding, the whole ceremony was quite short and simple. However, the entire family (except for JR‘s younger brother) flew in, so it turned out to be quite a nice celebration nevertheless.
My sister did my makeup:

I sat in front of our bedroom window and placed a portable mirror so I could see the makeup application progress. =P

The Most Beautiful SurprisePosted on: 14th of January 2010

Life & Love
As mentioned in my previous post, we greeted 2010 with quite a bang. There were no firecrackers, fireworks or loud music involved, but one very special surprise that came in the form of a ring. Yes, that’s right! JR officially proposed! :)

Please excuse my double jointed fingers! =P
Him officially proposing didn’t really come as a surprise (we have been talking and planning about marriage for quite a while now), but his choice of timing was truly unexpected. Tired from a whole day of activities, I had already changed into my nighties and was ready to climb into bed when he suddenly pulled out the ring from his pocket and got down on one knee.
As a hopeless romantic, I have dreamed about the perfect proposal over a thousand times. I was convinced that the best was one that was perfectly planned and orchestrated with elaborate details involved; think flowers, fireworks and a bottle of champagne, or the beach, sunsets and messages written on sand. JR‘s proposal did not have any of those, but it was at that exact moment when I realized that fancy elements weren’t necessary to make the moment extra special and memorable. The only detail I needed was him. :)
Our engagement was simple with no flashy fanfare, just as our love is effortless and straightforward. <3 I was, and still am, overwhelmed with happiness. It’s the same type of happy-giddy feeling that I felt over six years ago when we officially became a couple. :)
I’m also now one of those women who just can’t stop looking down at the pretty reminder on her finger. =P

It’s truly the best material gift (more than clothes, makeup or techy netbooks) any girl can ask for!
And because I refused to be photographed in my nightgown, we were only able to have our photo taken as a “newly engaged couple” at a friend’s wedding the following day.

We’ve planned to have our ROM (Registration of Marriage) in Singapore mid next month, and our church wedding February of next year, so we definitely have a lot to look forward to. :)
I’ve had the most beautiful start of the year, but I know the best is yet to come. :)

Ending 2009Posted on: 11th of January 2010

Life & Love
The last month of 2009 was a whirlwind of events filled with happy memories. Being back in Manila meant having more time to spend with family and friends, and that’s exactly what I did. From reunions, dinners, parties to simple meals at home.
I tend to take less photos when I’m having too much fun, but here’s a few that I did manage to take from different events:

Impromptu night out with friends, followed by an intimate pre-Christmas dinner two weeks after. :)

Eggzmas party the day after JR arrived from Singapore. We missed last year’s party, so we made sure we could make it this year. :) Photo courtesy of Jaypee.

Mass, dinner, gift-giving and our yearly family photo on the eve of Christmas. <3
