Fishermen’s Wharf, New Bridge Road

Fish and chips and vinegar,
Vinegar, vinegar,
Fish and chips and vinegar,
Pepper, pepper, pepper, salt.

I enjoy finding and trying out new places to eat (I should really detox and maybe try out a colon cleanse for all the belly abuse!), and I admit that I’ve done very little of that since I moved to Singapore. Last Saturday was a treat, because JR and I had lunch with two of his band mates after their interview one block away.

Our pit stop: Fishermen’s Wharf along New Bridge Road (right in front of Central Mall/Clarke Quay MRT). I was ecstatic to try it out. I spotted its front sign from across the street just a few hours earlier, and made JR promise that we come back to dine there one day. He had already tried the food there before, and gave a pretty positive feedback, which is why I happily agreed when Alvin (their band’s singer) suggested the place for lunch that very same day.

I’m Feeling Alive All Over Again

Posted on: 7th of October 2008 | Under: Entertainment

Lifehouse has been my favorite band for the longest time. Their songs, no matter how old they are, still find its way on my iTunes’ most played. If you even take a peek at my music library on Last.Fm, it would be of no surprise to find Lifehouse on the top of my artist list. I just never get tired of their music.

They had a huge concert back in Manila a month after I moved Singapore. It was disappointment at its best, because I told myself that I wouldn’t miss them play if they came to Manila after I missed the Maroon 5 concert (they’re also one of my favorites) a few months earlier. Going back home just for the concert was not even an option, so I resorted to listening (and reading) to friends share their concert experiences. In the end, I was even more jealous.

I had forgotten about the missed opportunity of seeing them live, when the biggest surprise came just two days after we arrived back from our Manila trip; Lifehouse performing in Singapore! JR didn’t even have to ask me if I wanted to go, because he bought us tickets before I even found out about the whole performance. I was in the middle of an afternoon nap and was still half asleep when JR sent me a text message about it. I got up so fast that I almost fell off the bed (oh my dear life, time to check out life insurance rates, perhaps?).

So, how was my Lifehouse experience, you may ask?

FANTASTICALLY MIND-BLOWING!

Missing Manila, but Loving Singapore

Posted on: 2nd of July 2008 | Under: Life & Love

Things I miss about Manila:

  • My family. Although, I am actually in constant contact with them through the internet. My mom bugs me almost everyday about finding and buying her nice shoes and bags! LOL!
  • Gucci! I miss coming home to her waiting by the door, ready to fetch my slippers. I was actually on voicechat with my family the other night, and I was calling out to her so she could hear me. She was crying out loud when she did and was running around the room trying to find me. The poor thing misses me too! =(
  • My pillows! I must remember to pack them in my suitcase when I go home in December.
  • My entire closet (clothes, shoes and bags). I could only bring so much when I flew here. I always have days when I  feel as if I have nothing to wear!
  • Cibo! I want some of my favorite Manzo Panini!
  • My books. Sometimes I find comfort just staring at my bookshelf. =P
  • The rest of my art supplies.

Things I love about Singapore:

  • Finally being with the boyfriend. Just as he say’s it: “We’re finally Together Again!”
  • Being independent.
  • Cooking breakfast, cleaning, doing the laundry, and feeling all domesticated.
  • Riding the MRT everywhere. I do miss driving around in my own car, but  being just a passenger is quite relaxing. :)
  • Clean toilets with tissue everywhere! Something that you’ll rarely, if not never, find in Manila. =P
  • Going to the gym and hearing several people speaking in Tagalog. Makes me feel like I never left Manila at all.
  • JR’s band (En-X) and finally being able to watch them play, even if it’s just during their jamming/practise sessions.
  • Yummy food! I love, love Chinese and Malay food. =)
  • Shopping! But, I must really take control, because I am going broke! =P
  • Living on the 4th floor, with no elevator. Going up and down the stairs everyday serves as my quick exercise when I’m too lazy to go to the gym. XP

Baby Steps

Posted on: 1st of July 2008 | Under: Life & Love

It has been about two and a half weeks since I stuffed my luggage (to an excess, might I add!) and flew here to Singapore. I am now in my new home.

I am actually amazed that I didn’t find it too hard leaving Manila. I’ve had my fair share of moving around (if you didn’t know, my family and I moved around a lot), and I never liked having to leave friends behind. I have always been quite scared to crawl out of my comfort zone. But this time, I guess it was different. I just had to take a leap and actually go for what I want.

I am happy. And even if I don’t have everything that I’ve been hoping for yet, I am confident that I’m getting there. Just a few more steps.  :)

Wonderful Things

Posted on: 9th of May 2008 | Under: Life & Love

  • My trip to Singapore last month was lovely! I got to spend a lot of quality time with JR. Food tripping, shopping, lazing and a whole lot of fooling around. <3
  • Like I mentioned 2 posts ago, April was wonderful for me at work. My best month, indeed! May isn’t so far behind either. And it’s not even the middle of the month yet. =)
  • Despite the great months at work recently, I will be starting yet another phase in my life by mid-June. I am beyond excited! :)
  • I’m turning 25 in a couple of weeks! I’ll be flying off to Hong Kong to spend it there with my family for a three-day getaway. It’s been ages since we last traveled together, so I’m really looking forward to it.
  • April was great. I know May will end just as wonderful. But I am more positive that the next couple of months will be exactly what I’ve been yearning for.

An Attempt to Narrate our Singapore Escapade

Posted on: 19th of July 2006 | Under: Travel Junkie

The lack of detailed updates in here was due to the vacation JR and I had in Singapore. We were too busy having fun that it was just right to get away from our online lives for a while. =P But I did miss this, so let me try to let you all in on the wonderful time we had. ^_^

It was a 10-day escapade full of shopping, sight seeing, eating, taking pictures and meeting up with people. The main reason why we planned the trip was to be present at Cecilia (my ever dearest friend/sister whom I haven’t seen for 7 years!) and Dinesh’s Registration of Marriage.

We met up with the couple the 2nd night we were there and had the best time talking, dancing and getting drunk (ok, I got drunk) on Vodka. =P Imissed my sis so much and seeing her again was just overwhelming! :)

A picture of the four of us looking too happy… =P

@ the food area in IKEA, Singapore

The whole place was definitely for people like me who gets thrilled at the sight of towels, lamps, furniture, or anything for the home. I just wish everything I saw could fit into my luggage! =P

I don’t want to leave Singapore yet, but we fly back to Manila tomorrow (I mean later). :(

Singapore, at last! =)
