Wedding Planning
Posted on: 24th of November 2010 | Under: Life & Love, Our Wedding

A little less than three months to go ’til the big day!

It’s been a busy past couple of months, flying in and out of Manila. The main details of the wedding have been set and all suppliers have been booked. All that’s left is to finish working on my DIY projects, buy a few other things and polish all the small details.

With February just around the corner, I’m starting to worry about getting everything done. I’m such a perfectionist that I find myself worrying about everything down to the tiniest detail! Our wedding planner has been a great help with all the ideas and organizing, but I just can’t stop myself from injecting my personal touches in every single thing.  =P

All the ideas are starting to materialize one by one, and I’m excited for that big day when all the hard work will finally fall into place. :)

Most of my time has been spent working on the wedding that I obviously had no time to spare for this blog. My backlogs have piled up and I am so behind replying to all your comments, but I promise to get them done in the next few days. :)

Anyway, wishing you guys a Happy Thanksgiving!

Preview: Vintage Prenup Photo Shoot

I never thought planning a wedding would require so much effort. I’ve spent so many nights researching online for tips and suggestions for my dream wedding, and I can’t believe that in just a little over four months, all that will finally materialize. I’m glad we hired Christine Ong-Te‘s full coordination services, because she has definitely made handling all the little details a breeze!

JR and I were a little hesitant about getting an expensive photographer for the wedding at first, but Christine was very persistent in recommending John Mateos Ong. Jong’s rate was a little more than what we had initially planned on spending, but being the photography enthusiasts that we are, it only took a little effort to convince us to finally book him.

We had our pre-nup shoot with Jong last week, and all I can say is WOW. WOW. And WOW again. He truly knows his craft!

JR and I love photography, but thinking up of poses in front of the camera is definitely not our cup of tea. During the shoot, Jong was there to guide and direct our every pose. He made modeling feel so easy! Almost four hours of hopping from one location to another with him was actually fun. :)

The theme of our wedding in February is Nostalgia, so we also wanted our pre-nup to be vintage-inspired. We styled ourselves in 40’s/50’s clothes and accessorized with pearls, fascinators, vests, suspenders and hats. And to complete the nostalgic feel, we had our shoot around Singapore’s City Hall area, where beautiful colonial architecture are well-preserved.

Here’s a preview of our photo shoot:

I didn’t know JR could jump that high! LOL! :)

I also did my own makeup. :)

Face:
MAC Prep+Prime, MUFE Camouflage Cream (Orange for my under-eye circles, and green for my blemishes), MUFE HD Foundation (#123), MAC Studio Finish Concealer (NC30), MUFE HD Powder, Sephora Blush Me Twice (used to contour), MAC Blush Ombre (Ripe Peach).

Eyes:
MAC Paint Pot (Painterly), MAC Eyeshadows (Ricepaper, Honey Lust, Sable, Nocturnelle, Sketch, Black Tied, Shroom), MAC Fluidline (Blacktrack), MAC Powerpoint Eye Pencil (Engraved), Maybelline The Colossal Volum’ Express Waterproof Mascarra, Nichido Eyebrow Pencil, Fanny Serrano Eyebrow Powder.

Lips:
Sephora Lip Pencil (Royal Rose), MAC Lipstick (Russian Red).

We ended up with almost a thousand photos during the shoot. It was quite hard picking out only a few to post online, because I loved all of them. =P

Definitely no regrets that we booked John Mateos Ong. :) Even my mom was thrilled to see the photos, she was bugging me the whole day after. =P So excited for the wedding day! :)

A few more photos on my flickr and FB. :)

** Oh, and yes, I did go a little crazy on the details in this post (plugging my outfit and listing every single makeup I used!), but that’s just what happens when I go blog-less for over two months. I missed it. And my fingers just wouldn’t stop typing as soon as I started this post. =P

We Did It!
Posted on: 22nd of February 2010 | Under: Life & Love, Our Wedding

After six years and four months, we finally got married last February 17, 2010! :)

Well, it’s not the church wedding yet (that’s scheduled for the first part of 2011), but our Registration of Marriage in Singapore. Similar to a Civil Wedding, the whole ceremony was quite short and simple. However, the entire family (except for JR‘s younger brother) flew in, so it turned out to be quite a nice celebration nevertheless.

My sister did my makeup:

I sat in front of our bedroom window and placed a portable mirror so I could see the makeup application progress. =P

The Most Beautiful Surprise
Posted on: 14th of January 2010 | Under: Life & Love

As mentioned in my previous post, we greeted 2010 with quite a bang. There were no firecrackers, fireworks or loud music involved, but one very special surprise that came in the form of a ring. Yes, that’s right! JR officially proposed! :)

Please excuse my double jointed fingers! =P

Him officially proposing didn’t really come as a surprise (we have been talking and planning about marriage for quite a while now), but his choice of timing was truly unexpected. Tired from a whole day of activities, I had already changed into my nighties and was ready to climb into bed when he suddenly pulled out the ring from his pocket and got down on one knee.

As a hopeless romantic, I have dreamed about the perfect proposal over a thousand times. I was convinced that the best was one that was perfectly planned and orchestrated with elaborate details involved; think flowers, fireworks and a bottle of champagne, or the beach, sunsets and messages written on sand. JR‘s proposal did not have any of those, but it was at that exact moment when I realized that fancy elements weren’t necessary to make the moment extra special and memorable. The only detail I needed was him. :)

Our engagement was simple with no flashy fanfare, just as our love is effortless and straightforward. <3 I was, and still am, overwhelmed with happiness. It’s the same type of happy-giddy feeling that I felt over six years ago when we officially became a couple. :)

I’m also now one of those women who just can’t stop looking down at the pretty reminder on her finger. =P

It’s truly the best material gift (more than clothes, makeup or techy netbooks) any girl can ask for!

And because I refused to be photographed in my nightgown, we were only able to have our photo taken as a “newly engaged couple” at a friend’s wedding the following day.

We’ve planned to have our ROM (Registration of Marriage) in Singapore mid next month, and our church wedding February of next year, so we definitely have a lot to look forward to. :)

I’ve had the most beautiful start of the year, but I know the best is yet to come. :)
